The design of brains requires that we know what a brain is.

     Nature -> Sensors -> Brain -> Motors -> Nature

is the flow diagram for everything that has a brain. Brains mediate between sensors and motors.  Brains can be classified exactly as to size. Sizes range from the null brain, zero, to brains the size of the universe. It should be noted that interesting machines can be made with null brain. Hook sensors to motors directly and you have a machine with no brain.

The null brain is Sensor -> Motor

The simplest possible brain is a simple inverter. Sensor -> -Sensor -> Motor.

The first complex brain is two sensors to one motor through a brain HalNode. It is easier to write this as an algebra.
M = S1 - S2. All of this is a function. S1 and S2 are data streams, the - operates on the data streams and create the new data stream M. Every two input HalNode is two motors and one sensor in the abstract.

You send me a list of sensors and motors and an idea of what you want them to do and I will send you a brain equation set and a schematic of the brain HalNode network. Hourly rates are:
$500.00 per hour. (I have no competitors.)

I can build the whole thing or simply provide a brain schematic for you to build from.

This whole notion is sort of new. You tell me what you want.

A Tool
Hal algebra, nodes and cables are a tool for building brains. These are given freely in the book Brains for Machines.

Control Systems
From thermostats to animachines.

Tutorial
Hal nodes and cables are an excellent teaching tool. The student can plug his algebra together on the bench and watch it work.

A new natural mathematics
Forms the foundation of a new mathematical system using data streams of numbers for variables and computer nodes for operators. Writing software in this system results in the assembly of HalNodes and cables so that the software is simply the instructions for assembling the HalNodes and cables. There is no software as such, since there is no computer  except nature to run it on. Who knows what power this will have.
